Cognitive Stimulation Therapy

BDAA Award 2024
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, or CST, is an evidenced-based programme of themed activities for people with mild to moderate dementia.

CST is recommended by NICE (the National Institute for Clinical Excellence) and evidence suggests that it could be as beneficial as medication in improving someone’s psychological well-being, as well as increasing their confidence in word finding, language skills and comprehension.

Our programme is designed to give caregivers a better understanding of dementia and to help them deliver CST in the home. Our sessions are delivered by an expert trainer with vast experience of improving the quality of life of people living with dementia and their caregivers.

CST provides stimulating activities that maintain thinking and memory skills, as well as exercises to manage and maintain healthy relationships. (We know that CST works as we practice it at our Respite Day Centres every day)
